Mount Fuji Skiing & Snowboarding: The 2026 Day Trip Guide
It’s the question everyone asks: "Can you actually ski ON Mount Fuji?"
The short answer is yes, but with a twist. You won't be skiing from the very summit, but you can definitely hit the slopes at Snow Town Yeti. It’s perched on the volcano's southern 2nd station, making it the only place in Japan where you can carve through snow with the massive peak of Fuji right in your face.
Quick Facts: Snow & Timing
📅 Which months does Mt. Fuji have snow?
Fuji’s iconic white cap usually appears in October and stays until June. For skiing, the slopes at the base are best from late December to early March.
❄️ What months can you ski in Japan?
While high-altitude spots in Nagano go until May, the Mt. Fuji ski season is most reliable in January and February for that perfect powder experience.
The Yeti Ski Resort Experience
Let's be honest: if you're looking for miles of steep black-diamond runs, Yeti isn't it. But if you want a fun, zero-stress day out of Tokyo with views that look like a postcard, it’s unbeatable. It’s arguably the most beginner-friendly resort in the country.
The Views
You are 1,450 meters up. On a clear winter day, the volcano feels so close you'll feel like you can reach out and touch the crater.
Beginner Heaven
Wide, gentle groomed trails and "magic carpet" moving belts instead of scary chairlifts for the nursery slopes. No pressure here.
Snow Play Zone
Not a skier? No worries. There’s a massive dedicated zone for sledding and snow tubing—perfect for kids and adults who just want to play.
Skip the Logistics: Our Yeti Day Tour
Let’s be real—trying to rent a car and drive up a frozen mountain or navigating three different trains with a heavy coat is a buzzkill. Our tour is designed to be "plug and play."
- Tokyo Departure: We pick you up, you sleep on the bus, and wake up at the resort.
- Rental Support: We’ll help you navigate the rental shop for everything from boots to jackets.
- Total Flexibility: Spend the day skiing, or just eat a hot bowl of ramen and watch the snow.
2026 Season Note:
Yeti is famous for being the first resort to open in Japan each year (often in October using snow machines!). However, for the best natural snow scenery, we recommend visiting from January onwards.
Planning a Visit?
Snow Town Yeti is on the southern side (Shizuoka). This means more sunlight and slightly warmer temps than the northern resorts—ideal for staying out longer without freezing.
